The Fandom Tag

What ho, folksies!

It’s been a few weeks! I completely forgot that blogging was a thing! Oops! But today I’m back with another tag–this time because it’s about fandoms, and talking about fandoms comes very easily to me 😉 I sorta-kinda stole this tag from Jenna Terese, but to be fair she tagged everyone, so whatever. Thanks, Jenna xD So without further ado, let’s get into it!

Rules

  1. Include the graphic somewhere in your post!
  2. Answer the questions!
  3. Tag two fangirls (or boys, I suppose)!

The Questions

#1: What’s the first fandom you remember becoming a part of?

Ever After High.

So basically, fairytales.

Are you surprised?

To elaborate: this universe is what got me into writing. I wrote fanfic for this when I was 7. I hated Apple White 😦 But as a teenager, I’m pretty sure she’s my favorite character now xD In my opinion she has the most layered and meaningful characterization in the story, and that’s what makes her story so fascinating to follow. I’m sure most of you have no idea what I’m talking about now, but whatever.

#2: What’s the newest fandom you’ve come to enjoy?

The Stormlight Archives, I think? The Way of Kings is the last book with an established “fandom” that I really enjoyed. I’ve always been a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson, but I hadn’t read this particular series until earlier this year. And I haven’t gotten my hands on the next book yet, but I’ll get to it soon. If you haven’t read this series yet but you’re into real epic fantasy and LEGENDARY worldbuilding (I could ramble about Sanderson’s worldbuilding forever), READ IT. Kaladin is awesome.

It’s pretty fresh on my mind because I’ve been listening to the official book soundtrack by the Black Piper, and it is gorgeous and fits the story so well. I almost want to reread it now, even though I only finished it a few months ago!

#3: What’s a fandom guaranteed to give you feels?

The Promised Neverland. Not just because it’s heartbreaking and chilling and low-key terrifying, but also because the second season is out and I 1) still can’t watch it and 2) probably wouldn’t like it anyway. But Emma, Ray, and Norman will always be in my heart ❤

It’s kinda funny because I HATE horror, but TPN isn’t really what I’d consider that horrifying, at least in the earlier parts of the story. But the characterization is everything, and it has a really great soundtrack. It’s scary and epic too. I just want the precious children to be safe and happy.

#4: What’s a guilty pleasure fandom of yours?

*looks around*

To be honest, this question doesn’t even make sense to me, heheh. So I don’t think I have one xD

#5: What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve heard of/are a part of?

Weirdest fandoms… Well, I wouldn’t call this weird per se, but the Keeper of the Lost Cities fandom is pretty darn crazy. I guess I used to be a fan, but nowadays I’m so DONE with all the Sophie/Keefe/Fitz madness I just can’t xD

Be aware that I’m not seriously judging you, lol. I don’t think most people will argue that vehemently about which ship they agree with these days, but we can all laugh at the disputes that immortalize this fandom.

#6: Favorite popular/widely-known fandom?

Disney, lol.

The best thing about this is that I don’t even have to elaborate. It pretty much speaks for itself.

#7: Favorite bookish fandom?

Ugh, why? I read a lot of books!

Okay, I’mma pick the Kings of Aselvia (Moonscript? what should I call it) fandom for this one. Because it’s fabulous, the writing and characters are awesome, the worldbuilding brings me great joy, and I’m waiting impatiently for the next installment. Also the memes. The memes are EVERYTHING.

But again, this is a really difficult question, so I’m gonna pick another answer too. I love the Second Age of Retha fandom too. It just… brings me endless amusement, okay?

#8: What do you consider your ‘homebase’, a fandom you can always come back to?

*thinks long and hard*

Ah, yes. That would be Ever After High. *sighs* I know everyone’s tired of me talking about this already, but look. Ever After High was amazing. And I will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS COME BACK TO IT!

But also Haikyuu. Yeah, I think Haikyuu and Ever After High take the top.

#9: What’s a fandom you know all about… but aren’t actually into?

… The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer?

I don’t know, I just… wasn’t a big fan of the series. The twists and concepts on the original fairytale are brilliant, and I loved the setting and everything, but it was all SO CLICHE. I did like Cress though; that one was my favorite.

#10: Which fandom has the best characters?

*jumps on the rooftop* *pulls out a megaphone*

HAIKYUU!!

HAIKYUU. HAIKYUU. HAIKYUUUUUUUU.

*puts away megaphone* Okay, most of you don’t even know what Haikyuu is, but that’s… totally your fault and not mine. And to be honest, the fandom’s characters will always be so much better than the actual fandom (not a fan of the fandom). But like… the characters in Haikyuu, combined with the not-obnoxiously-complicated plot, pacing, and themes? It’s just so simply perfection. *breaks down weeping*

#11: Name your all-time favorite ship.

*stares at you*

Y’all… I don’t actually, you know, do ships. I’m super chill about them, so I’ll never ship any fictional couple super hard. Unless you count Miya Osamu and Shirofuku Yukie, but they’re not even canon, so. I really have no idea.

#12: What’s a fandom you’re curious about joining?

None, really? Maybe The Silver Eye? It’d be more like a rejoin though, since I was super into it when I first read it last year, but then I stopped following it a while back and now will have to reread the entire thing if I want to catch up with all the new stuff, lol. So I’m looking forward to that, I guess.

On second thought, probably Lord of the Rings. I wouldn’t say I’m curious about it–I know plenty about it, and I will definitely join it one day. I just haven’t yet. *coughs*

The Tags

I dunno, man. Tag yourself if you’re feeling lucky.

Until next time,

So, that’s that, folksies! Hope you enjoyed my… all-over-the-place rambling, as usual. Tell me, which of these fandoms are you into? Are you gonna do this tag? Because if you do I hope one of my recommendations above will make it into your post and… um, anyway.

  2. You haven’t read the lunar chronicles as well? *high five* I want to read it someday, but the books somehow seem to get pushed back in my TBR every time. Ahh my first fandom was Disney movies, the really old ones – Cinderella, snow white, a little mermaid – and I adored them when I was younger. My newest fandom has to be the grishaverse. I love the world building and the characters although I do feel that the books may be a little bit overrated. Have you read Six of Crows?

    1. Lol, actually I have, I’m just not into it xD But they are a classic for any fairytale retelling lover!

I love the Disney princess movies as well! And I would say the Grishaverse fandom is one I should like to get into eventually–I know the worldbuilding and characters are excellent, but I do know about a lot of the clichés 😂 I want to read the Shadow and Bone trilogy before I get to Six of Crows!
